Contrary to popular myth, root canal therapy is entirely painless. Non-vital (dead) or infected teeth need to have root canal therapy, which is the cleaning and filling of the dead or infected space within a tooth. When a root canal is done it preserves the health of the tooth, the surrounding tissue as well as the entire body. One benefit to root canal therapy is that an otherwise unsalvageable tooth can be kept for a lifetime instead of being extracted.
